Our
Story
Founded in 2017, Suits U is a student-run, non-profit organization that provides students with affordable business attire and professional headshots. We sell high-quality, gently-used business attire generously donated by businesses, students, and other community members. We donate all profits from our suit sales and various other fundraising events to local charities whose values align with our own.
Our philosophy: when you look good, you feel good inspires us to empower students to feel confident in a professional environment. Our team consists of McGill students from various backgrounds who come together because of our shared passion for sustainability within the fashion industry and empowering students and the community around us.
With the launch of our new website, we hope to increase awareness about our values and mission and generally what Suits U does as an organization. We also hope to launch a blog where we will write about everything, from our best tips and tricks on living more sustainably as students to where the best thrift stores in Montreal are. FASHION: Look Good
This year, we’ve added a fourth pillar to SuitsU. While we’re all about sustainability, confidence, and philanthropy, fashion is also important. We believe great pieces can be found at Suits U whether you’re looking for professional attire, a cool statement piece, or an item you want to rework, you can find it all at Suits U.
PHILANTHROPY: Give Back
We promote philanthropy by supporting a specific group's welfare in Montreal. We accept donations from various partners and resell 100% of these donations to raise proceeds for a local charity. This year, we are donation all of our proceeds to mobilizing Milton parc, a student-led charity dedicated to food support, material support, community building, and settler education projects.
SUSTAINABILITY: Shop Responsibly
We believe in reusing and repurposing gently used clothes as an alternative to fast fashion. Part of our mission is giving gently used clothes another life, so we can avoid polluting landfills, while also providing students with clothes that make them fell confident. We believe in the power of building a more circular economy that is sustainable. We accomplish this by giving our generously donated clothes another chance.
CONFIDENCE: Be You
Since our inauguration our motto has been "look good, feel good." The transition from casual dress to the professional environment can be difficult for young professionals. Suits U ensures that it can provide tools, such as professional headshots, or professional wear, to help launch students into their careers. We believe looking good does not necessarily mean a high price tag.
